What is Giftedness?

Deep down, if we peel back our layers, we can see that we are born with a design. And we long to function in that design. It’s how we naturally operate. It’s the magnet to which we’re always being pulled. If “design reveals the designer’s will” then it determines for what we were made. Sadly, we add onto our lives cultural expectations, brokenness, shame, impulsivity, and lack of self-awareness which mars that design. But it’s still there, waiting to be redeemed. The Giftedness Group® exists to help you reconnect with it and use it for its intended purpose. We help you discover your Giftedness. And to align your life toward its ultimate use.

Giftedness is:

“your unique combination of innate motivating factors."

The Core Ingredients to Your Giftedness: “Innate Motivating Factors"

The Giftedness Group® has mastered the “Story-Patterns Method" at the base of its services, which is a process that effectively reveals your "innate motivating factors” (IMF). By looking at the patterns across 5-7 categories of motivation that hide behind very particular stories throughout your life, we find the patterns of motivational energy, also known as innate motivating factors (IMF).

IMFs are:

Innate

They are natural. You were designed to magnetize toward them. You don't have to try nor think about it, you just do it or rise to the challenge when it or they are present.

Motivating

You gain energy from exercising them. They don’t drain your motivational energy, you gain motivational energy. The same way a muscle grows when being exercised, it’s the thing which you sometimes feel you “could do forever."

Factors

They’re like an ingredient to a cake. While end results are a piece of the equation, it's more accurate to recognize your motivators as ingredients in the sum. That's called a factor. It's your unique combination of numerous factors that get you involved, keep you involved throughout the process, and results in the outcome.

Again, your giftedness is your unique combination of innate motivating factors.

Discovering your best job fit, best performance, and most meaningfulness, then, is about aligning your work to your giftedness. This assessment isn’t just about what you can do, but what you were born to do, as proven by over 100,000 lives changed because of it.

Research shows that the Giftedness Discovery

process yields results that are:

Timeless

It is seen early in life & you can predict that it will show face again

Insatiable

It cannot be ultimately and finally quenched to extinction. It gives energy, not costs it.

Explanatory

Like a diagnostics on a car, it pinpoints your pain points. It explains:

why you perform the way you do

what you find naturally satisfying and frustrating

how you learn

how you make decisions

in what roles you will make your most successful contributions

who you need around to be effective

how long you will stay motivated in a given assignment or job

even where you are vulnerable to failure.

Irresistible

When certain elements are present, you're a magnet to them. No matter what job you have, your IMF are going to be oozing out of you, trying to get exercised. This is what's behind the phrase, "I did it in my own unique way." You can't resist using your innate giftedness; it's in your design. In other words, no matter where you go, you're going to operate a certain way.

The Scientific Reliability of the Giftedness Discovery Process

The method we use is adapted from the traditional SIMA® method. Led by the leading vocational psychologist of 20th century Dr. John Crites, The Leadership Profile Project evaluated the efficacy of SIMA® in identifying leaders. Meeting American Psychological Association (APA) standards for testing (objectivity, reliability, and validity), he concluded that SIMA® was theoretically sound, empirically reliable, and valid for its intended purposes. On top of that, he found that one's profile is stable over time and he saw unique results of positive results across all studies. He concluded,

"...the weight of the evidence for these findings is indeed impressive... SIMA® can be used with confidence as a selection and leadership identification method."

Our Unique Approach

Other Assessments

Start with 50 impersonal questions that you have to rate 1-5

Puts you into 4, 8, or 16 categories that don’t feel personal

The Giftedness Assessment™

Starts with you writing 20 stories from your life

You organically create your actual motivations, that are personal & motivating because they come from your life story, attached to your personal emotions

Through compassionate and analytical reflection, these coaching sessions feel less like an interview and more like an opportunity to brag about your favorite memories. These patterns comprise your Giftedness Report™—a comprehensive document that explains what drives you, the environments where you excel, and the roles in which you naturally thrive. Just as a car manual tells you where to look when something is off, this manual helps pinpoint the pain points when something feels off in your life, work, motivations, or relationships.

How is The Giftedness Assessment unique from other assessments?

The Giftedness Assessment™ is not a personality test; it’s more thorough, more accurate, and more comprehensive. At least that’s what our participants say. Based in narrative-psychology, it’s a story-sharing process that unearths your "innate motivating factors" (IMF), creating a unique Giftedness Report™ that explains each person's meaningful contribution, natural strengths, ideal job fit, and plan for success. Giftedness explains THE #1 reason why someone performs the way they do. This organic process is significantly and definitionally set apart from other online, quick-answer assessments.

Not only are the results effective, but even the process of sharing meaningful stories is encouraging and insightful itself. The story-sharing process of Giftedness Discovery™ makes you feel hard, seen, and appreciated, alleviating managers and teachers of such difficult responsibilities.

We often hear, “My Giftedness Coach knows me in a way that no one else does!"

When would I use my giftedness?

Giftedness is used everyday! The thing is, you don't always realize you're doing it. We need a coach because they help us realize that what we thought everyone does naturally is often specific to us.

Therefore, you would likely hire a Giftedness Coach right before a potential season of change or decision-making.

Giftedness is used to make wise career decisions, which is applicable at every change-stage in a career. Each of these stages are perfect examples of when you really need to know your giftedness:

College major choices or seeing if you should go to grad school
